All Star Weekend Review

E-mail Print PDF

I’ve heard their songs, seen their look, and know their style.

The California group Allstar Weekend has an alright sound even though it isn’t my preferred genre. Don’t get me wrong I don’t dislike their music, but you won’t find it on my Ipod.

Come Down With Love off of their first full-length album, Suddenly Yours, is their most well known song and it is definitely catchy but the Jonas Brothers have been singing about their teenage love affairs for years.

I would like to see them do something unique to give me a reason to listen to them. I like seeing the diversity among the group but they should incorporate the unique faces into unique lyrics and a new sound.

Allstar Weekend does use a little auto tone, which I kind of liked for their style. They do have the Disney Channel sound, but with a little more edge as if they were mad at Walt for rejecting them from Disney’s Next Big Thing contest and they wanted to show him they are the real deal.

If you like either Blink-182 or The Jo Bros then I would recommend at least giving them a try. If you like what you hear then you should consider going to see them in concert. They will be in Detroit Saturday November 13. If you’re up for a little road trip then you and a few friends could pack up a car and take a trip to Chicago for their November 20 concert.

You can’t call Allstar Weekend a boy band because their sound isn’t that style and they are actually pretty talented musicians. It’s obvious they grew up idolizing Blink-182 and their sound mirrors that, but their songs don’t have that same intensity.

If I had to give my two cents (and I do) I would have to say that if they keep at it they have a chance to be a decent band down the road. Their sound is nice, although not unique, they have time to put their spin on the pop-rock genre.

The guys from Allstar Weekend are definitely willing to put in the work to make it big. After each of their shows they stick around for as long as they have to in order to meet all their fans. This shows their commitment, but whatever happened to the bad boy of the group.

The bad boy helps all bands get into the news but maybe the lack of a bad boy will help them with their struggle for a unique look. Personally I think the bad boy makes the band more relevant and gives a wider range of fans a person to relate to.

It was not hard to listen to, but I would rather not listen to anything during a car ride than listen to them.

I think that they have a big shot at being a one hit wonder down the road. I definitely recommend listening to this album at least listen once to everyone who is all about the Disney music scene.

The biggest factor will be their look. It will either end their career before it ever starts or bring them to the top of their genre. Overall I feel like they will be a one hit wonder and enjoy their 15 minutes of fame.
